A new hydraulically operated universal tombstone fixture contains 12 two-jaw, self-centering power chucks with tongue-and-groove master jaws.

Various sets of jaws can be mounted for clamping families of parts, permitting quick job changeovers to reduce downtime and maximize production volume. The tombstone also will accept MultiChuck MMY manual chucks, which feature low heights from 25- to 40-mm to maximize the machine's Z-axis. The chucks are said to be well suited for tombstone applications in which large jaw travel and high gripping forces are required.
